100 Book Challenge

Last year, I managed to read 108 books between January 1st and December 31st.  I'd set a goal of 100 books for the calendar year, so I'm pretty proud that I exceeded it (even if it was just by 8 books).  :)

At the beginning of the year, I've set myself the same challenge: read 100 books before 2011 rolls around.  So far, I'm on book #58, which puts me slightly ahead of my pace from last year.  I will say, though, that It's been much harder to keep to my reading schedule with everything else I've got going on--husband working overtime, no help with child care, and a few things going wrong with our house.  Oh yeah, pigeons are trying to take over my house, and it's been interesting trying to deal with that.  :)

But I have managed to squeeze in as much reading time as I can...it helps that my kids are happy if I sit next to them on the floor and read while they put legos together.  :)

So, how's your reading going so far this year?  Are you on schedule?  Ahead?  Behind?  Given up?  :)  Do tell!

I'm not doing so well. I'm at about 25 right now. But I usually read a lot more in the summer, so that number will go up quite a bit by fall.

*hugs*

I'm reading as much as I can. Books are a nice thing at the end of the day. :)

I don't think I set up a goal on how many books to read this year, but so far I've been reading more (and keeping track) than I did last year, so it's better. ;)

I think I'm at 48 so far. Hey, maybe I WILL aim for 100 after all. :D

I didn't set a goal, but I've read a lot of books this year. One way I read more is to read books on tape on my MP3 player while I garden and walk.

I'm at 50 books/works for the year right now, and I'll bump it up to 51 when I finish reading HAMLET later tonight. If I didn't have these silly literature classes to take up all of my time, I'd probably be closer to 60 or 65 by now. It will be fun to compare how many we've each read by the end of the year! :)

I only read 89 books last year, but my goal was 50 so I greatly exceeded. This year I hope to hit 100, but I'm only at 43. Too bad beta reads don't count. I'd be at 50 :)

I'm just going to read and see what happens. I've never kept track before, and now I'm only keeping track of YA books. I've completed more than half of my original TBR list, but I've slowed down a little recently. Life has just been too fun to read! Maybe a rainy day will come soon?

I made a goal this year to read 30. that is a far mroe realistic goal for me than 100. I try to read as much as I can...but there ust is not time. Between the kids and working on my own writing, I just do not have much time left to read. I did start reading at the gym though and that has been great!! So I usually get at least 30-45 minutes of reading time while I do my cardio!

Aw crap, your post reminded me that I haven't posted my quarterly reading update on my blog!

I read 31 books in the first quarter, so I've got a good start on the 125 that I'm shooting for, but I think by the time I tally my books for this quarter, I'll be shy of that!

Sounds like everyone is enjoying the whole reading process, regardless of where you all are with your goals. I think that's fantastic! Reading is such a fun thing, isn't it? :)

Oh, I completely forgot about the pigeons trying to take over my house, to add to the list. :)

Kudos to you. I tried the 100 books in a year, got to almost half way. LOL
