NaNoWriMo--How's It Going?

So?  For those of you doing NaNo, how's it going?  Are you keeping with your goals?  Are you ahead?  Behind?  Are you able to ignore the fact that your words might be crap?  :)

Me?  I'm behind.  I set myself a goal of 1000 words a day, but so many unexpected things came up that I didn't even make half that.  Fortunately, last friday my youngest son went to a friend's house to play so I was able to get back up to speed.

I am currently close to 5500 words so far. I know, kind of pathetic, considering some of my writing buddies have more than twice that many words.  But hey, it's better than nothing, right?  :)

Although, the goal I set myself was to have a finished draft by the end of the month.  At this rate, it's going to be February before I'm done.  So I need to figure out a way to step up the pace...which means I'm going to have to roar like a mama bear whenever my writing time is threatened.  :)

Yeah, we'll see how that goes.  :)

Aven - that's great!! I am hoping to have a better week this week. Hoping not so many other things will get in the way. Hope you get lots done today!!

We set goals, but sometimes -life happens. I'm doing good, but am exhausted! I am around 13K, but still below my expectations. But hey, I'm at least writing more than usual. Also, I did this by pulling 2 all-night sessions to catch up. I'm going to do another 4 this month. They were actually rather productive since its hard for me to write when the family is up and about.

I managed to get to 10k yesterday which was exciting...until I remembered that I'm still behind the word count goal. But I'm still happy with the progress I'm making, and 5k is nothing to sneeze at either! As long as we're writing, that's all that matters, right?

Sarah - that's great! Hope you get lots done today, too, and I hope that honeymoon phase lasts a looong time. :)

LM - wow, hats off for those all-night sessions. I could do it, but then I'd be worthless and very cranky the next day. And my kids wouldn't know that I'd been up all night, so it would just be bad for everyone. :) But I'm glad it's working for you!

Anna - that's awesome!!! And don't worry about the word count goal. If you're happy with your words, who cares how long it takes? :)

You go girl!

I'm not really doing NaNo, I'm just trying to finish the first draft of my current novel. That's about all I can handle this month.

I'll be cheering everyone on!

Nano this week was hard, but great. It's really good for me not to be editing everything right after I write it. I suspect it will get harder this week, when my schedule gets busier. But I am determined to do this.

That's a No-No for me.

Never have done it.

Plus, if I write all those words, exactly how many of them will be any good? LOL.

Or, you know, you could have a decent book by February.

Good point, Murr. That's certainly an option.

But I don't have any problem with discipline, so NanoWriMo, for me, serves no purpose.

I already have plenty of ideas for new stories. All I need is time and a comfortable chair!
